For starters, we’ve included a little twist in our sample script for you to all have fun with. Download and read our adventure for “The Zenoids” and you’ll notice we left out some of the dialogue. Take a crack at punching it up with your own funny lines. Check out our guidelines below and download from the link at the bottom.
Write Your Own “The Zenoids” Adventure
We’re opening up the writer’s room to all of Myouterspace. To inspire your submission, check out the character art and descriptions in our "Mission: Zenoids" section. We’re looking for specs no longer than the example script. Submit using the link at the bottom, but first, check out our requirements below, along with a few pointers on what we’re looking for:
(1) Focus on the main characters. The entire family should be in the episode. Don’t forget the dog is part of the cast. Work him in visually and comically: he doesn’t speak, but he can morph.
(2) In animation, anything can happen. If it can happen around a dinner table in Philadelphia, it doesn’t need to be animated. Squash and stretch, zoom and boom. If you have a funny idea that has no need for dialogue, explain it visually, so the readers can see it too.
(3) Quality check your submission. Don’t assume readers know what you are thinking. Describe what you see and how you see it happening, and of course, by all means, make it funny.
(4) Other than the Zenoids and their ship, please introduce no more than four new characters and four new locations per episode. Finished animations may be no more than two to three minutes.
(5) The character Skorp – Antagonist? Wankadurklerink? Who do you think he should be? Friend or foe?
Our production deadlines are coming up quick, so if you want a chance to be considered, we’ll need to see it soon! Submissions should arrive in script form, no synopses please. Don’t mail us an idea on the back of an Eskimo pie wrapper – unless the Eskimo pie is still in it. The Zenoids love Eskimo pies. Which may explain some UFO sightings. To keep things simple, please send your submission in .doc or .pdf format. Please use a feature screenplay format.
When: Deliver your finished submission ASAP. The first and best we see, we're going to roll with. We're producing right now. If you nail it, we use it.
What: (A) Your filled-in version of our Sample Script OR (B) Your original adventure spec script for “The Zenoids”, six pages or less
How: Feature screenplay formatting submitted in .doc or .pdf file format.
Why: Because you’re funny and you just may get your script animated.
This is important:
