Game Review: Halo 3

Halo 3 ODST Game Review on Myouterspace.com, Read Article here

If you loved Halo 3 but you’ve played it to death and you’re still hungry for more then prepare to get excited. A standalone expansion pack for the game called ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) has been developed by Bungie and it is due to be released on the 22nd of September. Halo 3: ODST is a new angle on the universe and this time you are cast in the role of a rookie UNSC soldier. Instead of playing through as Master Chief you are an ordinary grunt and as such you are much more vulnerable to enemy fire. The expansion pack campaign is actually set before the events of Halo 3. You have to scour the ruins of New Mombassa in search of your missing team mates and the story unfolds via flashbacks.

You will also be able to choose your own path through the action and this is the first Halo campaign which allows you to take on missions in whatever order you like.

ODST has the goods to satisfy multiplayer fans as well with all of the original Halo 3 maps, all the additional map pack releases and three entirely new environments. There is even a new game mode called Firefight where you’ll buddy up with friends to fight off increasingly lethal waves of enemies.
This release promises to unveil the fate of Earth and it offers fans the chance to play as new hero. It may not be a full game but the two disc set contains the single player campaign, the new Firefight mode and the bumper multiplayer pack with three new maps. It also doesn’t require the original Halo 3 game to play. There’s little doubt Halo fans will be lining up to get their hands on it.

Underrated Game, for sure!
ODST is a great story, especially when played alone. Fans of Firefly will also be enthralled to learn that the cast voiced most of the main characters, too! Your journey takes place during the events of Halo 2, when Master Chief follows the Covenant as they jump through space. In the process, New Mumbasa is destroyed. As always, composer Martin O'Donnell never disappoints. The music is almost Film Noir and gives the sense of loneliness as you wander the empty streets, wondering what happened and looking for your squad.

Fire Fight mode offers something new to the Halo franchise, something gamers have really enjoyed in games like Gears of War 2 and Left 4 Dead.

Halo fans should also make sure to have a new copy of ODST handy, because your invitation to the Halo: Reach beta is inside!
