I know things get a little slow here on Sirius, but I have a question for all you gamers. XBox360 or Playstation 3? I'm leaning towards the PS3 because of the blu-ray player, but if someone knows that the XBox 360 has far better graphics or the PS3 is prone to developing sentience and conspiring with the coffeemaker, either argument could sway my decision. So, thoughts?

One of my recent projects was for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. It's a casual game. You can play it at www.artandwriting.org/Awards/VideoGames

If you know any students in grades 7-12 that might be interested in submitting to the awards, including a category for video game creation, please direct them to the site. Thanks.

Love teen drama? Love hockey? Love a scifi mystery? Then you've gotta love Who Am I? The Series. Want to help get a TV pilot made that will be shown in a possible 30 million homes? This is your chance for as little as $5. You guys may know who Scott Brody and Dave Andrews are (The InSight Guys) but you can help the rest of the world find out that they are 2 nice guys with a vision and dedication to quality science fiction and fantasy through their Syzygy Network. Don't miss out on this opportunity. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/289608134/who-am-i-tv-pilot-0

Joe Tunic blog 1 is up and running, and oh boy is it a lengthy one. I'm going to have to change formats just to make future entries manageable and readable. Anyways, the first entry is unofficially titled "The Problem with Nukes" and is available in my blog. I'd appreciate some comments and views.

I've just started a blog titled The Oblivion Adventures of Joe Tunic. Its based on a heavily modded play through of TES IV: Oblivion, and will feature events in game as Joe Tunic encounters them. Feel free to take a look and comment if you want. The first prologue is up listing the mods I'm running and setting the scene for arriving in Anvil.

You know what would be awesome? Bungie creating an FPS with the Starcraft franchise.
SheppShepp on Tuesday, 03 August 2010 15:31

And then calling it Starcraft: Ghost. And then releasing it for the Nintendo Disc Drive, but then moving it to the Nintendo Ultra 64, then the Game Cube, and then falling off the face of the earth.

That version of Starcraft: Ghost would have either been really awesome, or absolute crap. It possibly could have killed the franchise if it were crap.

But yes, I think it is time that Starcraft: Ghost is resurrected.

I would highly suggest that everyone take advantage of the really cheap price for Deus Ex on Steam until June 23rd. It is a very revolutionary game that few since have lived up to. Yes, the graphics are dated (there are things to remedy this). Yes, the voice acting could be better (though I happen to like it). Part FPS, part RPG, a more or less coherent unfolding storyline as the game progresses, and best of all, it is possible to complete the game with a next to zero body count (exploiting a glitch or two can result in a zero body count I've been told). Then again you could also arm yourself to the teeth and fill everyone you come across with flaming holes of searing hot plasma.

I must warn everyone that there are some creepy elements in the game, most of them coincidentally linked the the state of the world post 9-11 despite the fact that the game was released well over a year before that event.

The sequel Deus Ex: Invisible War isn't as revolutionary, but still enjoyable. But there is a third game in the series coming out soon. Might as well get caught up.

Downloaded Unity but am now teaching myself JavaScript to use it. Anyone have recommendations on books, websites, etc.?

Wow Unity looks pretty cool. I will have to check that out.

DispatcherDispatcher on Monday, 07 June 2010 21:34

I'm keeping busy enough for now just using the tutorials, articles and all linked at Unity3D's site. Plenty out there; just a search engine keystroke away. Yeah, the scripting is more dominant in Unity than in other editors I've used but that's simply because it allows you to create a game from scratch. Similar situation with Blender. But Blender is geared more for content creation and animation; Unity is geared more for gameplay itself and is more physics feature complete.
