The Blog Alert Thread

I see a lot of discussions about new blog posts, and they seem to get lost in the shuffle of the more active threads in a few days.  So, I've created this thread to provide a common place for us to brag about our new wonderfully-written and deeply-moving musings on life, the universe, and everything.  Go ahead- brag away! We all want to do it, and here it's socially acceptable!

I'll start. I have a blog on my profile called To Honda, With Love.  I wrote it back in July, but I'm still super proud of it.  Go read it.  Then come back here and tell me why I'm reading your blog next.

This is a great idea, and I'm happy to contribute. I'll meet your ante of To Honda, With Love with some thoughts (and a lengthly book excerpt) on the subject of posthumanism, transhumanism, and whether or not immortality could be fun.

Check it out! http://bit.ly/Hii8Mf

I just wrote the introduction to another story in my series. Thanks to some useful advice from my MOS friends I had to write it down with still clear in my mind.

Link is for the beginning of my new novel. It is a prequel to the one I have already posted on Amazon with links below. This time I am writing a much more realistic theme. No UFO's or Space Aliens. It is purely a case of "Speculative Fiction". In the beginning segment I use the device of a quote from something that is posted on the internet.

In this story I base the collapse of the modern world on a combination of economics and conspiracy theory, both of which I take from real life. The speculative twist is what replaces our modern day political system. I call it "concealed absolutism". It is real but only future "conspiracy nuts" believe in its existence, but local authorities better act like it is real if they want to live. My story might still be marginally classified as science fiction because I project some trends in the production of electricity and manufacture of alternative energy into the future, Thorium based reactors, depolumerization for making artificial petrol, captureing methane from the sewer system, pelletizing fuel from wood and trash, and biological/medical advances relating to how some people might survive viral plagues.

That is all science fiction "lite", not the fantastical stuff people expect. The "concealed absolutism" is the scary part of the story because it might be happening now...

Here is a little preview of a story I'm writing. Hint, it is much easier to understand the context if you read the previous posts and the stories they link to.

So, there are rumors flying around that the starship "Republic" will be doing some recon at planet Creatia. As of now, I have been interested in what its mission will be and how people will be chosen to work on the project when it arrives. Look foreward to hearing from you.

Last night I got home from work to find a hooker slumped over the half wall barrier at the entrance to my apartment. I had just glanced at the archaic features into which her noble form seemed to pull my focus, when she stirred suddenly and started from her sleep! I quickly grabbed the lithe body of the quiet nymph and propped her up in a seated position on the precipice, then politely went into my place for a nightcap. Thought no more of it till the next day when a twenty dollar bill had precariously found itself missing from my billfold!

Seriously, I could not remember where the money'd gone. Anyway, I would still like to know how and where criteria will be judged for the starship project.
