Description

This Moon of Creatia is where the editors and writers come to read and discuss submissions of stories and art for the publication of our online science fiction and fantasy magazine - Anachron.
Welcome to The Anachron E-Zine Moon

Anachron publishes science fiction and fantasy short stories that take the mind out of the here and now and show it something worth bringing back to reality.

Our mission is to promote the new fiction online audiences are looking for.  That's why the membership of Myouterspace helps us choose the stories we publish.  Anyone can log on and publish comments and recommendations for the Myouterspace Editorial staff.

Anachron features new stories and artwork online and publishes a monthly, downloadable PDF format for authors and fans to distribute.  We promote emerging authors and encourage writers to share and develop their work. Visit Anachron in the very near future for details and Submission Guidelines.

Hello Anachron,

I just logged into MOS after being in a work trance for some time and I'm very excited to see this E-zine news. I have the first episode of an online Sci-Fi series "Faster Than Dark" now online, however it's rather enormous in word count and doesn't hit the short story mark. Perhaps later Anachron will carry a longer series format. I am looking forward to revisiting a few short stories and having a go at getting something up on this E-zine. Very exciting.

Anachron, from anachronism, meaning out of place in space and time...as in floating in a tin can, far above the Earth, Planet Earth is blue, and there is nothing I can do...other then write stuff down.

This is ground control to Major Steve . . .

I'd like to take a moment to remark how AIDAN 5 is a perfect example of how SOLID storytelling and writing will ALWAYS prevail over big budget Hollywood nonsense and over-the-top, computer-generated bells n' whistles. Granted, the AIDAN 5 visual style is truly innovative and riveting, but it is absolutely the STORY that really drives AIDAN 5 home for me. Go, writers!!!

Hi all :)
I'm thinking of writing a crossover story which involes SG-1, Atlantis, Doctor who, Halo and Star Trek.
what do you all think. Just to let u know when i've finished it will be rubbish as i'm not that good at writing storys :(
kaedancekaedance on Wednesday, 31 August 2011 04:30

I think you ought to write it, since crisply writing something is the only way you'll get better. The submission guidelines here say that Anachron doesn't publish fan fic, but you could always post it on your blog. There are lots of users here willing to help you improve at writing, and who knows? You might be better than you think.:)

Ambitious and exciting, if you ask me! I love crossovers!

Steve VSteve V on Tuesday, 18 October 2011 14:54

Cross overs are the best, just remember not to use the same identities as the old stories if their copy right is still active, lol.

STORY. IS. LIFE. (or something equally melodramatic).

New triplet submissions from encrux (Edward Alexander Sims) - one of them even has a meta-mention of Myouterspace itself! If you're looking for a triplet idea to write a 500-word flash for, take a look!

@ AgentSmith

Thanks for the Kind Words

The idea only was his - and I used ideas from lots of other Sources as well

So I guess - I wrote it then

On more thing - if you are in way inclined to accept the Story at all.
I can add all of the History leading up to this, from 2130 - in fuller detail.
I had to write this anyway - for new Players who joined the Game along the way.

I would welcome some collaberation with / from someone who CAN write - I am not really a Fiction Writer. This could make it more "alive" and more readable. However, it would have to be within the framework of the thing as is.

I have a long, long History as a Technical Author -
And I tend to write awful, dry, "As Is" accounts or even Histories of things which are ficitional - that is my particular ability. I have imagination - but no training as a Fiction Writer, and I am getting too old to change now.
AgentSmithAgentSmith on Friday, 15 July 2011 11:41

You most likely have plenty of "Fiction Writer" voice in you. It's just a question of modeling. Although what I read was mostly "technical" in the sense that it was really a lot of information about the world - fiction is also about information - it's just that it's about picking exactly and only the information necessary - and giving it to the reader in the right order.

In the same way that a character doesn't explain his whole life story before he says "Yes" or "No" to answer a question - stories take off from a choice we understand and then lead us through choices we perhaps - don't. Science Fiction is a particularly difficult genre because exposition is a huge stumbling block for most writers - and Sci Fi takes more exposition than most.
