Star Wars 3D beginning in 2012

George Lucas, in a brilliant move to keep the gravy train a-flowin' is looking to release Star War Saga in 3D, beginning with the Phantom Menace in 2012.

And it will probably contain some modifications, tweaks, and enhancement smuch like the when Star Wars was rereleased in theaters back in the 90's, making the new versions even greater attrocities (once they get around to the original trilogy) to die-hard, old school fans. But they (and I) will go anyways.

Because it's Star Wars.

He still might. I read something where he was talking to Mark Hamil about maybe doing one about Ben Skywalker.

Granted, it would totally screw with the Expanded Universe fans as Lucas doesn't hold himself to the EU, but I'm fine with that.

Dangit. I always hoped he would make VII - IX while everyone's still alive.

exactly. The blu-ray LOTR just came out, then the LOTR blu-ray collector's edition. Soon it will be the LOTR extended editions on blu-ray. it's all just a ploy to get our money. It's a shame it works so well. maybe if these people stopped making such great movies.

Kae, I think anyone with a soul would agree that the originals are better than the new. It's absolutely a way for him to milk the franchise just a little more. It's like the producers of the lord of the rings trilogy...if you release 10 different versions, each within a year or so of each other, people will keep buying them because they want to have the 'most complete' version.

I'll probably go, just because its a good excuse to look at Ewan McGregor and Harrison Ford in 3D. Otherwise, I don't think the 3D will add anything to the movies. I agree with Transbot- it seems a way to hook a new generation and keep the money rolling in. I personally prefer the original trilogy to the new one- they're are just all-around better movies.

Well, i won't go see Phantom Menace through Revenge of the Sith...though I will probably be weak and cave in to go see A New Hope through Return of the Jedi. And then I'll be angry at Greedo shooting first, Boba Fetts gay voice, and the removal of the Ewok celebration song.

Damn you, Lucas. Get dementia and bow out already. Stop screwing with my blood pressure.
