Just learned, they are doing an americanized remake of “Akira”. *sigh* Oh boy, this is gonna get ugly.
encruxencrux on Wednesday, 18 May 2011 05:19

I grew up on Robotech, Voltron, etc., but Akira was my initiation into anime films. From there, I sought out everything else. I remember being bummed out when they decided to redub the voices, so I can only imagine how I will feel when it is remade. :( Some things are just better off left alone because remaking them, especially something like this, defeats the purpose of its original magnitude. Akira is one of those films that cannot be outdone and should not be reenvisioned.

Totally agree!

Just thought I'd mention, I'm going to finish Space Blob, A Love Story. I think it will need about 20 or 30 more illustrations, in case you feel up to it.:)
c.Ripleyc.Ripley on Monday, 25 April 2011 23:08

I do indeed. :) I've just decided to take a little break in doing graphic design projects in my sparetime for a while – it has simply gotten too much lately – and focus on drawing and practising the E-Bass for some time. So: Good timing.

Steve VSteve V on Wednesday, 27 April 2011 02:42

If you check out the story as it is now you will see that the pictures are in different places. I have also indicated separations by chapter headings and asterix to show where a new picture might be needed. The main rewriting I intend to do will only by to add a little to each segment where needed and then to finish the final battle for Earth. I wish someone would light a fire under AgentSmith's rear end and get those projected "work groups" going so we can do things here without exposure.

c.Ripleyc.Ripley on Wednesday, 27 April 2011 22:53

Yeah … the advancement on MOS is going on really slow … well, I'm gonna check out the latest version of SpaceBlob at the weekend and maybe start some sketches. I'm already very much looking forward to continue the spaceblobbing!

status: "I wish it would still be sunday afternoon and I'd be still watching Star Trek and eating pizza with lots of shrimps and cheese on it." Ah...American style junk food in Austria...but I bet you at least had good beer.
c.Ripleyc.Ripley on Monday, 18 April 2011 02:46

Hehe, well, I'd say, Pizza is more Italian style food than American … though AFAIK the difference between Italian and American Pizza is mainly the thickness of the pastry. Not sure – any Italian cook around to clear this up?

To be honest, I had no beer at all yesterday! It was a slightly weird and particular sunday. ;)

Steve VSteve V on Monday, 18 April 2011 02:59

America is famous for stealing everyone else's junk food. Now pizza comes in any thickness you want. You can even get it on slices of Italian bread instead of pizza crust.

Uuuuuh yeah … Woman in Subway plays original Star Trek theme on a saw. ^^ XD

Steve VSteve V on Friday, 25 March 2011 05:36

That is really a hoot! I love it. Somebody needs to sign her up for one of those talent search shows.

Dixey3Dixey3 on Monday, 28 March 2011 05:32

In all my years of taking the subway in Boston, and actually knowing some of the musicians on occasion, I've yet to run into someone playing Star Trek on a saw. She would have earned her dollar from me.

c.Ripleyc.Ripley on Monday, 28 March 2011 05:58

I think I would have hugged her and kissed her feet until she would have called the police or something.

Hello Ripley,
Sorry for waiting so long to get back to you, last name Hungarian
c.Ripleyc.Ripley on Thursday, 03 March 2011 06:51

Ah, I see … since it sounds more german than hungarian, maybe it's from the days, when Austria and Hungary were one kingdom. There are many Austrians with hungarian names and Hungarians with Austrian names.

re. status: "It just wont stop snowing. If this continues much longer, I'll move to another planet. And this time I mean it!"

If you were to move to South Carolina you might feel like you' were on another planet, but I've often thought of Australia. The name is a lot like Austria, and it has really strange animals. It's like another planet.

nothin like a jam..When I used to play paid gigs regularly, it got the point where I'd cancelled paid gigs to just go somewhere else, that I could just kick the tip jar upside down and go off and do whatever I wanted to XD

Ahaaa … looks like something interesting might be on TV soon again …

Steve VSteve V on Thursday, 10 February 2011 15:10

I've seen the first episode, but I don't have cable so I have to wait for more freebees. It was as good as adversised. I'll never see Atlanta in quite the same light.

c.Ripleyc.Ripley on Friday, 11 February 2011 03:30

Sounds cool. :) I'm curious.

Steve VSteve V on Tuesday, 29 March 2011 16:59

I just watched the first season on DVD from Netflix. I was very surprised. It actually has a plot. Now I have to wait for the next on to come in the mail. I have to find out what happened to the man who cut his own hand off to escape.

c.Ripleyc.Ripley on Wednesday, 30 March 2011 07:40

So that guy doesn't return the whole first season? That's unexpected.

Affetto, the baby-child-robot, will be used to study the early stages of humans’ social developement … hää? Is it just me or is this pretty paradoxical?

More info here: http://www.getrobo.com/getrobo/2011/02/meet-affetto-a-robot-with-realistic-facial-expressions.html
AgentSmithAgentSmith on Tuesday, 08 February 2011 11:17

Paradox is such a mild word for this phenomenon - paradox only implies the negation of all of existence because of an irreconcilable conflict of fundamentals, but this, this is worse.

I was amazed by REC, now I'm euphoric about "Rammbock" – European Zombie movies are much more realistic, so you really can feel for the protagonists and get real gripped and I especially loved the end of this one, because it's unusual and in a very weird way kind of heartwarming.

Steve VSteve V on Tuesday, 25 January 2011 03:46

Du hast recht. :-) Oh well, that is the extent of my German today. I wish I could see this movie here in "South Cakilackie, where the law of gravity don't mean a thing," (the Talking Heads). When is it coming to the States?

c.Ripleyc.Ripley on Tuesday, 25 January 2011 04:14

Hmmm … according to IMDb it was released in the USA in September 2010 at the Austin Fantastic Fest [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1583356/releaseinfo]

They have totally re-written the alien prequel into a totally different movie, inquiring mind want to know.
c.Ripleyc.Ripley on Tuesday, 18 January 2011 22:36

Hm. Well. I'm pessimistic. The statements of Scott and Lindelof sound like shallow promo-blabla and a lot each-others-ass-kissing. And if they really cast Angelina Jolie, I'd understand, the movie settles for as-hot-considered-chicks instead of real good actors.

Well, we'll see.

Steve VSteve V on Monday, 07 February 2011 15:14

"shallow promo-blabla and a lot each-others-ass-kissing" you certainly have a way with word for somebody whose first language is not English.
