On my list...
I haven't read "The Human Blend" yet, although it's on the list. When I went to spend my Border's gift cards, they didn't have it (and they were also out of P.K.Dick and LeGuin, blah).

I did recently plow through a collection of Foster short stories "Exceptions to Reality", which I thoroughly enjoyed and then lent to my circle to read...

Read "The Human Blend"
It's an interesting "read." I say that in quotes becuase I got my copy from Audible.com and listened to the book on my iPhone to save time, but as non-space science fiction goes, it has some great characters and exciting alternate reality concepts in it.

I questioned some of the biotech advances, largely because I have a fundamental problem with the idea that civilization can undergo such a radical transformation (ie ecology change + extensive bio-tech advancement) and survive intact as we know it. It remains to be seen just how much Foster's world has adapted to those stressors, but INHO the world as we know it would not survive such a radical transformation without a massive loss in population density due to war and famine. The resulting collapses would make such high-end tech much more rare than is proposed in the novel, BUT that just my opinion.

My petty qualms aside, it's an interesting book and I think Mr. Foster has a promising series started.
