MOS Welcomes Michael Giacchino

Welcome to Michael Giacchino, Governor of Planet Orpheus!
We’ve always been fans, but ever since his gracious appearance at our Myouterspace webcast event during Comic-con last year, we’ve been hoping Michael Giacchino would let us give him a planet, because we couldn’t think of a better musical mentor for our citizens: our good governor has composed award-winning scores for video games, animated films, television shows - not to mention a certain recent sci-fi blockbuster.

Now that the United Planets of Myouterspace have a maestro in their midst, we’ll be getting Orpheus really jamming.  First up is a contest with Starship Orion’s project “The Zenoids”.  Governor Giacchino will judge the entries alongside Captain Tapping and the Admiral himself.  More details to be let loose in the universe soon!

Michael Giacchino is one of the most creative, successful and hardest working composers today.  He's famously a member of J.J. Abrams go-to team, including television's Lost and the 2009 Star Trek, and recently won the 2010 Academy Award for Best Original Score for the Disney Pixar film Up.

Animated films, sci-fi blockbusters and quasi-mystical purgatorial paradises aren't the run of the gamut for Giacchino - he's also composed soundtracks for video game mega-franchises Medal of Honor and Call of Duty.  His upcoming projects include the update of the Star Tours attraction at Disneyland and the feature films Super 8 and Mission Impossible IV. This clip is from Myouterspace's first live webcast event, where Michael Giacchino discussed the magic of movie music and more with host William Shatner.

MICHAEL GIACCHINO’s melodies have enhanced entertainment of all genres, including feature films, television shows, animated shorts, video games, and stand-alone symphonies. He has been nominated twice for an Academy Award® - first, for his score to the animated blockbuster “Ratatouille,” - and more recently, he won Best Original Score for “Up”.

Fans of the hit ABC TV shows “LOST” and “Alias” are well acquainted with his work and enjoyed his tense and emotional compositions. Previously, Giacchino composed many orchestral scores for interactive media, including the highly successful “Medal of Honor” series, a World War II simulation game created by Spielberg. His feature film composing breakthrough came in 2004 with his acclaimed score for “The Incredibles”.
