Global Game Jam 2011
So, the Global Game Jam 2011 commenced this past weekend. I attended and have to say that it was an awesome experience. Met really interesting people and saw some great game (was too busy on my game to play others and we were are racing against the clock). For those of you that are unfamiliar with the Game Jam the concept is fairly simple, you have 48 hrs. to create a videogame (or card/board game).
I highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about creating their own games. The Global Game Jam runs every year all around the world, this year was the largest and I was at the NYU Game Jam which was the largest Game Jam site in the U.S. and the third largest in the world. There is a theme; this year's was extinction.
Anyway you can find out more about the Global Game Jam at http://globalgamejam.org
The awesome games created during the event are available online or for download (even some for mobile) here: http://globalgamejam.org/games/2011
My game "Dog of the Dead," which I developed with my team and created the game art is at http://globalgamejam.org/2011/dog-dead
It's a top-down 2D maze-chase game and the object is to save as many caged dogs as possible and escape the maze yourself while avoiding zombie dogs (the player is a dog, too) in order to save all dog-kind. If you play the game please let me and my team know what you think about it and any suggestions you may have for improvement.
Thanks,
Mike
