Many of you will not know me (as I live on Creatia), but you may know my partner in crime Kaedance. For the past year Kae and I have been working in secret on a new project, and today we release it to the world. We have been working hard writing, scripting and planning our first ever web series. SOVEREIGNTY.
At this stage in the pre-production we are putting together a short trailer for the series, and we are looking for talented CGI animators to work with us. We do stress this is not an official MOS contest, but a simple request for help from all of you talented folks. There is no money or prizes or...well...anything at the moment, but if the series is successful, you never know what may happen.
We are currently in pre-production, with the intent to start filming the trailer in May/June 2012. So the sooner you can get it to us the better. Below is a brief outline of the story and what we are looking for at this stage.
The show is a Science fiction series set around 30 years in the future. Humanity has been removed from Earth and exterminated; only children under the age of 3 years old have been spared. The now grown up children are slaves of the Veesum Empire and work in the most dangerous places and are treated as the muck on the boots of the other alien species in the Empire. They have never heard of their home planet and wonder where they came from. Our story follows a human male named Orban, a slave on an asteroid mining facility. Orban’s life takes a strange twist after a fight in a local slave bar. Somehow Orban must survive in a Universe bent on destroying him, his species and keeping Earth hidden in the stars.
What we would like is a 10-30 second piece of animation showing a planet, a space station and a transport ship moving between the two. The clip should be fully lit and textured, and of production quality.
As fans of Science fiction shows, we have an idea of the feel of our show. So to get you as close as possible, I recommend that you think Firefly, Battlestar Galactica (2004) and Star Wars (Original Trilogy). We want a rough and ready look, a realistic feel and above all believable.
That’s it the rest is up to you. We want to see what you come up with, the design of the ship; the station and planet are up to you. You choose the shots, the movement and final look of your clip. Be as creative as you want, and please have fun with it, push yourself, try new things and show us what you can do. If you want to collaborate with others please do. The more the merrier.
As we are working in American format, the animation must be at 24 frames per second NTSC.
If you wish to have a go, please message us links to websites that host your footage, such as a personal site, YouTube, Vimeo etc. And feel free to put your links in the comments section too if you want to share your work with everyone :)
If you wish to throw your hat into the ring, have any questions or just want to ask about the show please comment below and we will try to comment back as soon as possible.
Thank you all.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Always other ways, I guess. Stop motion, props, other designs..
Alot of people do some cool stuff and post it on this site. I enjoy checking it out, no matter the quality, though there has been some talent pass through here.
Shlabloink, what I'm asking is what your bringing to your own table. All I'm seeing is your synopsis and a lot of spam for it. OK, I understand that in your storyline, humanity has been removed from earth and exterminated..except for 3 year olds, who know not of Earth and where they came from..and this Orban guy is keeping Earth hidden from what? Invaders who have already navigated through the stars, conquered, enslaved and wiped humanity extinct? Honetly, I feel like I'm missing something there..but it's your thing.
You are insisting that MOS animators help you with this and what-ever crew you get is to assume that you will realisticly be filming in may/june? I don't mean to insult you but it doesn't sound like the MOS animators would have be the one with the problem of honoring their agreement and meeting their deadline, for this project.
I'd worry less about spouting PR and making a scene. If your serious then focus on it, get lost in it. Even if you just make some textures, concept and draw up some storyboards, floor plans, ideas, masterpiece or not, you will at least have something and learn from it. People on here may help you but not if you are trying to convince them it's the greatest thing in the world. If you have a finished script, that's a good start..finishing it will be alot of work and I don't think bombarding social networks with messages with all caps is going to help you to do that.

But this thread is not about me, it is about our web series, Sovereignty. All we are looking for are interested animators who would like to work with us on our web series.
First, there is absolutely no need for personal attacks on any thread, ever. Period. End of story. Trolls belong under bridges, not on MOS discussion boards.
Second, if you have a problem with something that an individual has done on the site, please message them first to try to resolve the problem. If it was more than one person, message them all. If you can't resolve it that way, hit the report button. We have site administrators for a reason, but try to be grown-up about the problem first. Think about how you would handle problems like this in the real world. If it's not socially acceptable to do it face-to-face, it's probably not socially acceptable to do it here.
Third, we're all trying to be creative and successful at the same time here. That means a lot of stress and competition. Please try to not take it out on your fellow users.
Fourth, don't spam. Even if the intent is good, and is meant to drive interest in something you are super excited about (or bring back users to the site), it's still resulting in unwanted emails in people's inboxes, and it's distracting from the conversations in the other posts.
Finally, if you do something wrong, apologize for it and move on. If someone apologizes to you, accept it and move on. We learned this lesson in Kindergarten, and it's still a good one.
Thanks. *removes Moderator hat*
I know that there are so many other, very talented people on MOS that can do a better job than I could dream of doing. I also know that there are animators who don't have qualifications, or who are learning and want to get experience. That is why I'm asking for animators to take a look if they are interested. I could try and do it myself and do a terrible job, or I could ask if anyone out there wants to try and help us with our project. If no one is interested I'll look elsewhere.
@Jhonny Shah If you're not interested then fine I have no problem if you don't want to have a go. But please don't assume that just because I can do something, that I can do it better than anyone else. I obviously have a reason for asking or I wouldn't ask. We obviously have no money at this stage of the project, but IF money became available, I would happily pay animators, I know that you don't get something for nothing.
The only reason I spammed so many threads on Anteros, is because so many threads are dead. I hoped that people would see an alert/ email/anything and take a look. I didn't mean to offend anyone, or cause a problem. I appologise if my attempt to 'restart' MOS discussions has caused any problems.
And if you have read this and seen that I can animate as Jhonny Shah has and wondered the same thing, then I hope this explenation helps you to understand....
...I SUCK AT ANIMATION :)
I would think you are well invested, able and equipped to do the quality that you want. You did claim to go to school for animation? You have your script. You should know how you want it textured. Why don't you give it a shot?
I would think that there are a thread full of animators, who posted their hourly requirements, who may be looking at the MOS notification and wondering why they should be doing your animation for you, for free.
I would think that ya could of had 10 seconds textured and rendered by now?
Just curious.
