Been pondering the effects of poorly packaged waste (under atmospheric pressure..) and accidents in such an endeavor (EMP?), with limited knowledge but was thinking it could make an interesting storyline..

I've wondered if they could use railguns as an alt-space-elevator..maybe harness some lightning by firing a rocket-line into the sky and coat the rails with some dry ice or somethin' and send a package up to an anchor of sorts..
